Annual dog and cat photo contest

The Winthrop Gallery is hosting their annual Dog & Cat Photo Contest in February, open to all amateur and professional photographers in the Valley.

To enter the contest, participants must submit one or more original photos, framed and ready to hang, to the Winthrop Galley by Monday, February 10. The entry fee is $5 per photo submitted. Photographers 14 and under may enter one photo for free.

This year there will be different categories awards by Mountain Paws pet store as well as glass medallions handmade by glass artist Laura Aspenwall. Last year winners included “Miss Blue Eyes” by Leilani Heenan-Lentini under Best Cat category, and “Stellar” by Jim Matthews under Best Dog category. Under Funniest category, Cindy Quisenberry won with her “Fisher Cat” photo; under the Cutest category, “The Trio,” sent by Sharleen Hoveskeland; and Linda Reese won with her submission of “Cat Bird”, under the Most Creative category.

Entry fees will be donated to the Okanogan County Spay and Neuter Clinic. Photographs will be on display at the Winthrop Gallery from February 12 through 24. The gallery will be holding an Open House on Sunday, February 16 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
