Funding Available
Community Foundation grants

The Community Foundation of NCW is currently accepting proposals for three of their grant programs: the Regional Impact Grant, Classrooms Can!, and an Endowment Grant. The invitation extends to all 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations in Okanogan, Chelan and Douglas counties.

The Regional Impact Grant provides $5,000 to support general programs, special projects, start-up funding, small equipment acquisition, and other needs/enhancements for non-profit organizations. In the fall cycle 2013, this grant awarded more than $120,000 to 39 organizations across North Central Washington. The deadline to submit applications for the present cycle is April 1 (this grant is offered twice a year). Government entities, public educational institutions, and religious organizations are eligible –all other organizations must seek a fiscal sponsor to apply.

In order to support the Classrooms Can! Project, the Community Foundation of NCW has partnered with United Way and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to provide fifty grants of $1,000 each to teachers in Okanogan, Chelan and Douglas counties who are able to improve their classroom experiences. Projects must be innovative and interactive with the students, engaging the hard-to-reach learner. Proposed project must focus on arts education, field trips, literacy & social studies, STEM, or wellness. The deadline is April 1; awards are announced in May, and would take effect the next fall.

Offered every other year, an endowment grant of $50,000 will be awarded this year to support a non-profit organization “through a permanent fund at the Community Foundation with annual income disbursement based on a spending policy.” In 2012, the Methow Valley Sport Trails Association received this amount as an inaugural grant. The deadline to apply for this grant is May 1; award will be announced in September.
